Read this before dating your co-worker!
Did you remember my post about my co-worker who turns all guys at my office to be a cheater? Well, now day’s personal relationship in the office are difficult to avoid. Fair-minded, because people are spending more time at the office and make more social interaction including love affair.
Even for Japanese, office is becoming their first family. Even so, you have to realize, dating your co-worker can turn you into a sticky situation. For that, you had to do a precaution before stepping forward for your love life.
Love Life VS Company Policy
Some company pouring their rule with the “no dating with co-worker” tag. So, you have to be careful reading your company regulation. But if your company doesn’t have such a ‘dating’ regulation, still there is an ethical rule that you must follow.
Dating your subordinate is a big ‘No-No’
If you start seeing somebody that directly reports to you, conflict of interest will inevitably arise. Other workers might accuse you of giving your romantic partner more leeway or promotional advantages, regardless of whether you actually are. And the worst scenario is a sexual harassment charge if some one that you had crush on feels object by your action.
Dating your superior is also a big ‘No-No’
The reason for this is the same with the last point. If you are dating your boss, people are tend to see you using your superior position to get a promotion. Trust me on this one!
Leave your PDA at home
Your PDA a.k.a Public Display of Affection is only for after office hour consumption. You don’t want to get caught in that awkward situation of being seen by other co-workers, or even possibly by your boss. Director of my present company right now are a perfect example. They are husband and wife, but they can separate their role between office and their home. They even keep calling between them Mr. and Ms. and by last name to keep their professional appearance.
Keep mingle with other worker
This is the most important point. If you have a special relationship with one of your co-worker, try to keep mingle with others. For example try to have lunch with every body in the office or try to get out if there is a happy hour moment.
So, if you want a successful love life in the office, you and your partner need to establish two separate relationships formed business relationship and romantic relationship. You have to discipline on the application as well
